Council introduces voter text service
Eligible voters can send the town hall a text message to guarantee themselves a vote in any elections or referenda held next year.
The service has been introduced so residents can ensure they are on the electoral register ahead of the proposed changes to the Parliamentary voting system referendum - namely the introduction of a form of proportional representation scheduled for May 5, 2011.
Details of the service will be available on a new form, which is about to be delivered to every home in the borough.
