A sculpture representing a giant fence and stile has been unveiled in Battersea Park.
The piece, entitled Concrete Country, has been named as the winner of the 13th annual Battersea Park Sculpture Award by the Royal College of Art in collaboration with the Friends of Battersea Park.
Creator Lucy Tomlins, an MA student on the RCA's sculpture course, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see how the public respond to my work and how the sculpture reacts to the environment of the park over the year.
“The seasonal changes in light and colour will completely transform the piece and it will be interesting for regular visitors to the park to observe this evolving relationship with the environment.”
Tomlins has further expressed the interplay between the urban and the rural by creating an imprint of wood grain in the concrete structure.
The white concrete sculpture will remain on display outside the Millennium Arena for a year.
