We had a new rubbish collection service started this month. Many residents were not aware that it would also involve a change of the day to collect the rubbish, rubbish was therefore left for days rotting away and bags thrushed by foxes along the road. Our rubbish was not even collected on the 'new' day stated by the Council website. We left a message on their 'unmanned' service with the details of the problem. The Council reckons that any missed collection would be rectified by the end of next working day, we waited four days and nothing happened until today a notice was left on all the wheelie bins in our road. 'We cannot collect rubbish from your wheelie bin, We do not have the special lifting equipment needed to empty safely, please use standard dustbins and/or strong refuse sacks in future'. This is a joke, our wheelie bins have been emptied for many years without a problem, unless they now employ midgets to pull the bags out.

Strong sacks will NOT keep foxes and rats from digging into bags and throw the rubbish along the road.

The majority of British councils have now introduced wheelie bins - some just one, some up to four different bins - mostly distributed free of charge.

Our Council waste contractors should get of their butts and get into the real world. What are we supposed to do buy more bins because they do not have the equipment, is this a service of the 60s in a third world country? Unbelievable. As a pensioner I can easily move my bin to the front for collection, that will not be possible without a wheelie bin which was expensive already for me to buy but it helped and kept the foxes from removing the lids on the other type of lower bins.

A very angry resident.
