Robert Pile, 27, from Balham is leading a team of six amateur cyclists from London to Monte Carlo in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

The L2MC will set off from Tower Bridge at 8.30am on the September 6.

The team will cover over 900 miles in 11 days, including a couple of days in the French Alps. The total ascent over the entire cycle will be the equivalent of cycling up Mt. Everest! Joining Robert are Ed Lovatt, 27, from Clapham, Rob Greenwood, 32, from Tooting, Joe Sladen, 26, from Winchester, Martin Baker, 26, from Lightwater, Surrey, and Alex Ashburner, 26, from Southampton.

All are amateur cyclists with most of the team only buying their bikes this year. Inspired by Bradley Wiggins’s Tour de France win they have been spending their weekends training by cycling around South West London in distinctive luminous yellow jerseys. Both the Rob's have history of heart disease within their families with their uncles both undergoing heart surgery.

Aware of the great work and support that BHF undertake to help people who have suffered from heart attacks, the Robs decided to raise money for the pioneering research of the nation’s heart charity. The team are aiming to raise £8,000.
