Furious fans of McDonald’s have threatened to boycott the fast food giant over a controversial change to its breakfast menu.

In a post shared on the chain's social media channels, McDonald’s revealed that Breakfast Bagels and Breakfast Wraps would not be returning to the menu.

A post read: "It is with love and deep respect for one another that we announce that we are parting ways with Breakfast Bagels & Breakfast Wraps.

"Despite speculation and following a trial separation period, Breakfast Bagels and Breakfast Wraps will not be returning to the menu. We adore each other deeply but our love for the iconic McMuffin was simply too hard to ignore."

It added: "We want our fans to know this is a mutual decision, to the extent that a bagel can make its own decision.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported our union. As for the rumours that there will be a new breakfast bae on the scene later this year... no comment.

"But it's now time to say, 'that's a wrap'. And bagel.”

McDonald’s fans ‘done’ with restaurant after decision to axe bagels and wraps

One furious fast-food lover tweeted: "I can’t believe this! You’ve ruined my weekends!! You won’t bring back the iconic bagels but you’ll spend 3 years trying to get a cheese slice to melt on a plant burger!! The breakfast roll is no substitute for the breakfast wrap either! We’re done!"

Another added: “The wraps and bagels were the only breakfast items we ate in this house I’ve not had a Maccies breakfast since the start of the pandemic and now looks like that was the last one I’ll have.

“I hate them muffins and the flatbreads are even worse.”

“I'd already sworn off buying McDonalds after they messed up my ability to get a breakfast order for the final time (McDonalds' customer support still hasn't come back to me about that) but now this has solidified my decision. None of us are happy about this. McMuffins are boring,” fumed a third.

“Thankfully, for all those fans that have been let down, we are happy to announce  that we are in a committed long-term relationship with our Breakfast Wraps and Bagels and have made it official today.”
