A flurry of bets this week backing Tom Hardy to become the next James Bond has seen his odds cut.
The 44-year-old has always been in the running to replace Daniel Craig who stepped down from the role following the release of No Time To Die last year.
However, Hardy has recently fallen in popularity for the 007 role, slipping behind Netflix stars including Bridgerton’s Rean-Jean Page and Henry Cavill from The Witcher.
This sudden resurgence in interest in Hardy could be due to his recent reappearance on television screens, reprising his role as Alfie Solomons in BBC’s Peaky Blinders.
Oddschecker spokesperson, Callum Wilson, said: "Tom Hardy is a name that has been perennially linked with the vacant James Bond role, by bookies and punters alike.
"Looking at the betting since the market opened, Hardy is the 4th most backed overall, and the most backed over the last week.
"Hardy now finds himself a 10/1 third favourite in the race for 007, only trailing favourite Rean-Jean Page (4/1) and Henry Cavill (5/1).”
