With Christmas fast approaching and Christmas Eve only hours away, many may be wondering if banks will be open over the festive weekend.

Christmas is a hectic time and can be made all the more confusing because of differing opening times and the closure of some services over the holidays.

Services such as banks are important so knowing if they are open makes life all that much easier this season.

Are banks open over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day?

Here are the opening times for UK banks on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day:
HSBC

Hours are expected to differ on Christmas Eve (Saturday) with branches open at around 9:30 am and closing at 1 pm.

HSBC branches should be closed on Christmas Day as well as Boxing Day.

These branches should also be closed on Tuesday, December 27.

Branch opening hours may differ regionally, so check to see when your local HSBC branch is open.

Santander

Santander branches are to close on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day as well as on December 27.

Some branches may have early closing times Between Tuesday and the New Year, so check the branch locator for more information. 

RBS

The Royal Bank of Scotland is expected to close at around 1 pm on Christmas Eve with stores closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and December 27.

Bank of Scotland

The Bank of Scotland is to close on Christmas Eve, the big day itself, as well as on Boxing Day and Tuesday.

Halifax

Halifax in-store services will close early on Saturday at 1 pm while branches will close on Christmas, Boxing Day, and on Tuesday.

Nationwide

Nationwide banks will shut even earlier on Christmas Eve at 12 pm with locations closed on Christmas, Boxing Day, and on Tuesday.

However, the bank has warned that times could change on short notice and that its phone lines could be operating at different times.

Barclays will close on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and on Tuesday.

TSB will also be closed on December 24 and Christmas Day but is to remain open on Boxing Day and Tuesday.
