EastEnders is celebrating its 40th anniversary and a legend will be returning to the popular soap.

Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter, will come back to Walford to mark the occasion.

Carter was last seen on the soap at the end of 2024 with her final episode seeing her experience alcohol abuse, reports The Mirror.

The newspaper explained: “It presented a What If? scenario as Linda imagined the worst possible outcome if she didn't seek help. Linda envisaged her own death, which made her finally admit she needed help.

“She decided to check into rehab and has been away from screens since. However, that will all change on Thursday 13 as Linda makes her comeback from rehab.

“She is set to receive a warm welcome from her friends and family but things won't be plain-sailing. Her return to Albert Square comes as the Knights continue to feel pressure following Cindy's dramatic attack on Christmas Day.”

Ross Kemp will also be returning to the soap for the 40th anniversary celebrations.

Kemp is set to reprise the role of Grant Mitchell and will present the BBC One documentary special, EastEnders: 40 Years On The Square.

Natalie Cassidy (Sonia Fowler), who announced her departure from the soap last week, is among the stars who will feature in the special, titled EastEnders Revealed: The Lock In.

Swash, who played Mickey Miller on the show, said: “It was a privilege to take another trip back to Walford to reunite with my EastEnders family ahead of the 40th anniversary.

“I won’t say too much as I don’t want to spoil it for the viewers but the week is full of explosive drama, and it was great to hear from the cast themselves about what we can expect from the week.”
