After the most recent Apple iOS update, many iPhone users may have noticed that the battery on their device is absolutely rubbish.

Those who have installed the new iOS 26 operating system are likely to notice that the battery on their phone is draining a lot faster.

While this may lead many to believe that this is a ploy by the American tech giant to force users into buying a new phone, there really isn't much to worry about.

What to do if your iPhone battery is rubbish after an Apple iOS update

As Apple explains on its official website: "If you notice that your battery life has decreased after updating your iPhone, wait a few days and then check again.

"Even though you can use your iPhone immediately after an update, certain tasks related to the update continue in the background and might affect battery life and thermal performance.

"While they are ongoing, you might see the Insight Ongoing iOS Update in Settings > Battery."

This means users will only really have to wait a few days for their battery to return to normal.

Explaining further, Apple said: "Apple’s hardware and software are designed together to deliver great performance and great battery life. As new features and improvements are added, they can change the way we use our devices, as you explore and utilise these new capabilities.

"Immediately after completing an update, particularly a major release, you might notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance.

"This is normal, as your device needs time to complete the setup process in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new assets, and updating apps.

"Depending on individual usage, some users may notice a small impact on performance and/or battery life. Apple continually works to optimise these features in software updates to ensure great battery life and a smooth user experience."
