EastEnders fans are bracing for a potential Christmas tragedy.
The EastEnders clip has left fans worried for the fate of Denise Fox, who is currently battling leukaemia in one of the show's most emotional storylines.
Played by Diane Parish, Denise has seen her health decline after chemotherapy proved unsuccessful, and her search for a stem cell donor has so far ended in disappointment.
In the trailer, Denise is seen comforting a distressed Amy Mitchell, played by Ellie Dadd, before making a heartbreaking announcement to her family.
She says: "I told them… I want to stop."
The statement has led viewers to believe she may be considering ending her cancer treatment.
Denise’s deteriorating condition has already included collapses and nosebleeds, and the trailer shows her loved ones visibly shocked and shaken by her words.
The BBC has not confirmed whether Denise will die, leaving her fate uncertain.
The trailer also hints at further drama for Max Branning, played by Jake Wood, who looks set for a turbulent Christmas.
Max is shown being punched and threatened by several characters, as past actions catch up with him.
He has been accused of abandoning Cindy Beale, played by Michelle Collins, shortly after their wedding, and has also been linked to the death of Zoe Slater.
The trailer adds to the tension with a shot of a gun on a table and a brief glimpse of a death certificate, sparking speculation that a character could be killed off during the festive episodes.
With Denise’s life hanging in the balance and Max surrounded by enemies, fans are bracing themselves for a dramatic Christmas in Walford.
The show has not confirmed who, if anyone, will die.
The trailer leaves viewers with more questions than answers and promises a tense and emotional holiday season on EastEnders.
