KINGSTON’S Anthony Ayinde says he is ready to grab the biggest opportunity of his boxing career with both hands later this month, when he steps up to challenge for the Queensbury Boxing League national welterweight title in Epsom.

The 26-year-old has already captured both the novice and regional belts during his run in the televised boxing show that features regularly on British Eurosport.

And on September 24, Ayinde has promised to put on another master class and beat old rival Danny Stalford, in a repeat of their 2015 clash, to claim his biggest prize.

“This is going to be the biggest fight of my life, and I’m putting absolutely everything I have into beating Stalford and getting that title,” said the rising star.

“Danny and I fought back in 2015 when he held the regional title, and before the fight I said I’d be far too good for him and I proved that on the night.

“Since then Stalford has come back with two impressive knock-out wins and I’ve won both my title defences of the regional belt.

“But this time it’s for the national title and this is a much bigger fight.”

He added: “I know Danny has the power to finish this fight at any time, which he’s proved many times in the competition.

“But like I’ve said before, I’m a skilful southpaw with loads of tricks, and I’m going to make him miss all night long and then make him pay for his mistakes.”

Ayinde tops the bill of the All Guns Blazing promotion at Epsom Downs Racecourse on a night that will see three other Kingston fighters – Thao Lee-Wo and boxing brothers Iain and Michael Darvill – step into the ring.

Lee-Wo returns from a four-month break to take on Portsmouth contender Tom Bevington after losing out in his challenge for the novice middleweight title back in April.

While the light middleweight Darvill twins face Amir Saghalati and Shafqat Khan on their much-anticipated Queensbury Boxing League debuts.

Dominic Felix will fight Terry Russell for the vacant national light heavyweight crown, while Kane Baker takes on Lee Cannon for the national light middleweight title.

Croydon 31-year-old Gareth Gardner, who beat Northern Irishman Marty Kayes over four rounds on his professional debut in the league in June, is also on the bill although the details of his proposed clash with Poland’s Sylwester Walczak are still to be ironed out.
