Club: Civil Service Football Club

League: Southern Amateur League and West London Vets League

Location: Kings House School Sports Ground, Chiswick W4 2SH

Role at the club: Player and lots of boring admin stuff

Length at the club: This is my 18th season.

Longest servant: Trevor Jones played his 750th game on Saturday for the Vets.

Why our club is special: 1st team are in the SAL Division 1 which is a really good standard. We have ten 11 aside teams (including vets and women’s) in all which is pretty rare these days, no matter your ability if you love the game we will provide anyone with football at their level. We are 155 years old so we’ve been doing it for a few years now.

Best player we’ve had: We have had some great players in 150 years. C.W Harbridge, a CSFC club captain, won four caps for England in the 1920s

Worst player: There have been many. We had a guy a few years ago who reckoned he had played for Galatasary in Turkey. He was terrible.

Biggest Achievement: Beating Real Madrid twice in a week.

Memorable moment: In 2013 we played in the only football match ever to take place in the grounds of Buckingham Palace. It was an amazing day – although we lost 2-1.

Clubs claim to fame: We were founder members of the Football Association in 1863 and we are the only one of the original members to have played continuously ever since. We are honorary members of both Real Madrid and Slavia Prague.

Biggest defeat: 0-6 in a Cup semi-final last season, that was a really tough day

Biggest win: Personally, I played for the 5s in a 12-1 win 3 seasons ago, I managed to miss a penalty as well, subbed straight off afterwards.

Season goals: For all of our players to enjoy their football and to win at least 4 trophies.

Biggest rivals: Polytechnic, the A316 derby is MASSIVE. (Saturday 13 October at 2pm)

Why people come to our clubhouse: We have 4 or 5 home games every Saturday, it’s a great atmosphere after the game as players from all sides and the opposition socialise together. We also have some fantastic memorabilia from our history. Details of games available @csfc1863 if you want to come on down.

All the history makes us different to every other club in London but despite that we are always looking out for the needs of today’s football.

Our club in less than 10 words: Great football, brilliant social life, historic.
