Quins will go into the last game of the regular season looking to put on a show says captain Rachael Burford.

After a resounding 76-12 win over DMP Sharks on Saturday, Quins all but guaranteed a second-place finish in the Tyrrell’s Premier 15s league.

With a home tie in the play-off semi-final highly likely, Burford is keen to show the Twickenham Stoop crowd how far they’ve come this season as they welcome Gloucester-Hartpury in the fixture named ‘The Game Changer,’

“Playing in front of big crowds is awesome because people get to see what you’re working on as a team,” she said.

“They do get behind you, lift you, motivate you and drive you further as cliché as that sounds.

“It makes people perform in a different way.”

Burford who won the Six Nations Grand Slam with England a week ago admitted that Quins weren’t at their best at the start of the season, but they are now showing signs of the side they are capable of being.

“It wasn’t clicking for us early on, but we had some discussions and we put in some really good performances against some good sides before the Six Nations and we showed what we can do.

“We know we aren’t the finished product but we are learning from our mistakes, which is why we keep on improving.

“There’s no question we want to go out there and put ourselves in the best position to win that trophy.

“We’re confident if we play well and do what we can do we can achieve that."

Big Crowd

Last season saw Harlequins break the English league record of 4,500 fans for a women’s rugby match when they entertained local rivals Richmond at The Stoop, this Saturday they’re hoping to create another memorable occasion.

“We are getting those crowds in because of what we are doing on the pitch, and ‘The Game Changer’ is another bar we are trying to raise and set a new record.

“I’m really proud of being part of a club that are trying to make that happen.

“It’s such an exciting atmosphere to be part of.

“I encourage people to come and get a taste of what it’s like to be part of the Quins family.”
