Twickenham's bowlers will be delighted they will not have to come across Teddington’s overseas star Tim Armstrong until July.
The Australian bludgeoned nine sixes in an unbeaten 109 off just 59 balls on the Green on Saturday as skipper James Keightley’s men easily overcame Twickenham’s mammoth 304 for five with seven overs and eight wickets to spare.
Teddington, who had a below par season last summer after lifting the Middlesex County League Premier Division title in 2014, will be earmarked among the early favourites to claim the crown.
Earlier, debutants Marc Lezar (72) and Middlesex second teamer Don Manuwelge (138*) had helped captain Carlos Nunes’ men post a seemingly unassailable score.
But Teddington got off to a flying start in reply through Keightley (57), Tom Twiney (62) and James Fear (64*) before Armstrong’s arrival at the crease took the game well away from the hosts.
Without departed bowlers Gurjit Sandhu (Welwyn Garden City) and Rashid Mullahzadah (Southgate) this season could be a struggle for Ts.
Elsewhere, Richmond - who beat Surrey Championship Premier Division East Molesey by seven wickets on Sunday - won by six wickets at Stanmore thanks to 110 from Ryan Higgins as skipper Alex Griffiths’ men chased down the hosts' 178 all out with more than 23 overs to spare.
Barnes won by 89 runs at Wembley on their Division Two debut.
Fixtures: Richmond v Twickenham, Teddington v Ealing, Acton v Barnes.
