Will Sabey could not repeat his run-making heroics of last week as Malden Wanderers lost by one run at Walton-on-Thames in Surrey Championship Division One on Saturday.
All-rounder Sabey smashed 155 against Banstead last time out, but was dismissed for 23 on Saturday as the Stags were held to 193 for nine chasing Walton’s 194, despite the best efforts of skipper Alex Butler (70).
Earlier, Walton's Anthony Alleyne had struck 89 to set-up his side for a bigger score as they reached 148 for four.
But his dismissal at the hands of Michael Cottrell (4-56) sparked a collapse as Walton lost their last six wickets for the addition of 46 runs.
Sabey (2-16), Giles Puckle (1-24) and Neil Mander (3-33) were among the wickets for Malden, but the Cambridge Avenue outfit could not press home their advantage with the bat.
Wanderers, sixth in the table, host Old Whitgiftians next, while third-placed Walton host Cranleigh.
