Sutton United have signed former AFC Wimbledon keeper Ross Worner to replace the out-going Jason Brown.

The 25-year-old made 50 appearances for the Dons before being loaned to Woking, and subsequently released.

Doswell had to move quickly to sign Worner after Brown, was returning to the Lane for his second spell at the club, decided to join Gillingham as goalkeeping coach.

The manager said: "Following on from Jason Brown's phonecall on Sunday night, we've been very busy looking at who was still available and Ross's name was the one that shone through.

"He's been recently released from, having spent the last few months of the season on loan at Woking.

"He had a great spell at Aldershot, which led to Wimbledon buying him and he had a fantastic season with them.

"He has most recently been training at Crawley, who also offered Ross a deal, but his main concern was to play every week as a number one, and we have given him that guarantee.

"I firmly believe we have just secured one of the best young goalkeepers, and even more importantly he was desperate to come and play for Sutton United."
