Sutton United have been drawn away to Airdrieonians in the second round of the Irn-Bru Cup.

Paul Doswell's side will face an 850-mile round trip to face the Scottish League One side after the sides were paired in the draw made this afternoon.

The match will take place on the weekend of September 8 and 9.

Airdrie's Penny Cars Stadium is based 15 miles east of Glasgow and, like Sutton's Gander Green Lane home, has a 3G pitch.

They finished seventh in the third tier of Scottish football last season and are currently third having lost at home to Montrose and won at Forfar Athletic.

Airdrie went out of last season's Irn-Bru Cup at the first round stage after losing 4-0 at Queen of the South but progressed this year after Tuesday's 3-0 win at Berwick Rangers.

Sutton have started the season well having won three of their four matches in the Vanarama National League.
