Epsom & Ewell Harriers enjoyed a successful start to their Surrey Cross-Country League campaign.

Brooke Taylor led the under 15 girls home in 8th position as she recorded 17 minutes 11 seconds for the testing 2.5 miles course at a muddy Priory Park in Reigate.

Excellent packing by Sophie Osborn (11th), Anna Bloomfield (13th) and Grace Fordham (15th) helped the A team to finish 2nd, just 4 points behind Guildford.

Riona Stockley also finished in the top 20 as she led the B team to a fantastic 4th overall out of 23 teams.

Kiara Valkenburg recorded 16:47 over the same course to finish a fine 4th place as the u17 girls finished 2nd in the team standings.

Zara Girling battled brilliantly in a tight finish to claim 4th place in the under 13 girls race, and she combined with Florence White (13th), Lily Brown (18th) and Libby Cantwell (22nd) to secure an excellent third in the team standings.

The boys were in action at Effingham Junction where Patrick Moilliet (7th), Jacob Jacques (10th), Elliott Manning (13th) and Abinidab Panchalingam (26th) combined to secure a superb 2nd place behind Herne Hill.

Joe Barker was 7th u15 home, while Dan Slaven and Jake Valkenburg finished 14th and 15th respectively.

Isabel Brinsden performed strongly to finish 2nd as she led the senior women to 10th out of 15 clubs in Division 1.

Steve Winder’s 3rd place finish helped the senior men to 3rd to keep them in contention for promotion back to division 2.
