Croydon Harrier Cheyanne Evans-Gray set a new British and Colleges Championship 60m record at Sheffield last weekend.

The East London University student stormed to a 7.28secs clocking to clinch gold in scintillating fashion. She is now ranked 2nd in the UK women’s rankings.

Ines Karel Zepa (Kent Uni) ran a season’s best in the women’s 60m in 8.15secs, while Nithipan Vananathan (Kingston Uni) ran 57.16s in the men’s 400m.

Croydon Harriers’ squad brought home 22 medals at the Surrey Indoor Championships at Sutton Arena.

Paul Ogun triumphed in the men’s long jump with a 7.10m effort, while fellow field eventer Breanna White led a Croydon one-two in the Under 15 girls shot putt with Sheresse Miller runner-up.

There were three victories in the 60m for Croydon athletes. Gracelyn Kendeck bagged the Under 13 girls title just ahead of training partner Gabriella Tcheukam.

In the Under 20 men’s age group, Sean Edwards crossed the line first, pipping colleague Tyvon Inniss. Ella Pippim crossed the line first in under 20 women’s event.

A further two runner-up finishes in the 60m with Ninsola Adewale (Under 17 women) and Jayden Atta Fynn (Under 13 boys) striking silver. There were a further three silver medals for Croydon high jumpers thanks to Klayson Kafuti (Under 15 boys), Sasha Howard (Under 17 women) and Ovie Whiskey (Under 17 men). Two Croydon sprint hurdlers also got among the medals with Henry Thomas (Under 15 boys) and Chrissy Afriye Amponsah (Under 17 women) earning silver medals. Long jumper Jessica Duggan leapt to a new lifetime best of 4.79m in the Under 15 girls age group.

At the Armagh international 5km road race, Croydon Harrier duo James Hancock and Alex Penfold notched lifetime bests of 15:08 and 15:35 respectively. 24 hours later Hancock would run the fastest time for parkrun in Ireland on Saturday, clocking 15:49 at Belfast Victoria. Penfold’s 16:31 at the same event would be the fourth fastest in Ireland on Saturday.

In other parkrun news, Isaac Flanagan was first home at Lloyd Park, while Julian Forbes was first across the line in Nidda Germany.

Three Croydon Harriers took part in the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon. James Moore was 76th (25th M40) out of 714 finishers in his age group. Laura Marshall placed 34th in the women’s race (11th W45) and Emily Flowers was 63rd.
